Compassionate, specialist bereavement support for individuals and families navigating loss — from one of Ireland's most experienced practitioners in this deeply human field.
Reach Out to MarieGrief is one of the most profound human experiences there is. It is not a problem to be solved, a stage to be rushed through, or a weakness to be overcome. It is love — love that has nowhere to go.
Whatever form your loss has taken — the death of someone dear to you, the loss of a pregnancy, the death of a baby, or any one of the many ways grief can arrive — it deserves to be honoured, witnessed and held with care.
I have spent over 15 years walking alongside people in their grief. I bring an extraordinary combination of clinical expertise, therapeutic depth and heartfelt compassion to this work.
You do not need to make sense of your grief before you come. You do not need to know what you need. All you need to do is reach out.
No two grief experiences are the same. My support is available to anyone navigating loss in any of its forms.
I have particular expertise in perinatal bereavement — the loss of a pregnancy at any stage, stillbirth, neonatal death, and the grief of infertility. I am an active contributor to Féileacáin and the Limerick Bereavement Network, and was instrumental in developing Ireland's National Standards for Bereavement Care in Maternity Settings.
The death of a parent, partner, sibling, friend, child or any person who matters to you. Grief does not operate on a hierarchy. I provide a safe, warm space for any loss that is significant to you — however long ago it happened.
When death arrives without warning — through accident, sudden illness, suicide, or other unexpected circumstances — the grief that follows can be especially complex and disorienting. My trauma-informed background equips her to support clients through this particular kind of loss.
Expecting a baby after experiencing pregnancy or baby loss can be filled with anxiety, grief and conflicting emotions. I offer compassionate support for parents navigating this tender, complicated journey.
Grief that is not always recognised or validated by the world — including the loss of a relationship, a pet, a pregnancy that others didn't know about, or a future that never came to be. All of these losses matter, and all are welcome here.
What I bring to bereavement work is rare: the clinical understanding of a Nurse and Midwife who has worked at the hardest moments, combined with the therapeutic skill of an experienced Counselling Psychotherapist, and the genuine warmth of someone who truly, deeply cares.
I do not offer scripts, timelines or stages. I offer presence.
My approach is informed by:
Sessions are always led by you. There is no agenda, no pressure, and no rush.

My contribution to bereavement care in Ireland extends far beyond the therapy room. Over more than 15 years specialising in this field, my work has shaped how hospitals and communities across Ireland support families experiencing loss.
I was part of the team that developed Ireland's National Standards for Bereavement Care in Maternity Settings — a landmark framework adopted across Irish hospitals.
Active contributor to Féileacáin, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland, supporting families through one of the most devastating forms of loss.
An ongoing contributor to the Limerick Bereavement Network, ensuring locally based, high-quality bereavement support continues to be available to those who need it.
"Marie helped me through the darkest time of my life after losing my baby. She has a gift for making you feel truly held — not just heard. She carries your grief with you without ever making it feel like a burden. I will always be grateful to her."
Marie welcomes referrals from GPs, midwives, nurses, hospital social workers and other healthcare professionals. I work collaboratively with the wider care team where appropriate, always with client consent.
Marie also provides bereavement training, support and consultancy for healthcare organisations, maternity units and community groups. If you would like to discuss your organisation's needs, please get in touch.
There is no right time to reach out, and no wrong reason. I am here — whenever you are ready. You will be met with kindness, patience and complete compassion.
